Dr. G.J. Melendez-Torres is a Senior Statistician with the GPI. He is a Professor of Clinical and Social Epidemiology at the University of Exeter, where he leads the School for Public Health Environments Research at Exeter and the Peninsula Technology Assessment Group. An experienced trial statistician and evaluator of complex interventions, he has published 120 peer-reviewed articles, most of which use advanced statistical and epidemiological methods to answer questions about the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of complex interventions.
His areas of expertise include structural equation and latent variable modelling, meta-analysis, analysis of time-to-event data, and the analysis of cluster randomised trials. His work focuses on health technology assessment, public health aspects of child and adolescent social development, and intimate partner violence, both in the UK and globally. This work draws on epidemiological methods, medical and social statistics (especially in the context of randomised trials), and health economics. He holds an extraordinary professorship at Stellenbosch University.
